Destin Sunset Dolphin Tours
The Emerald Coast puts on its best show right before dark — gold light on green water, dolphins feeding on the moving tide, and the harbor lights flickering on as you cruise back to the dock. Our sunset dolphin tours in Destin let you ride that whole hour from the deck of the Crab Island Runner, a 27-passenger U.S. Coast Guard certified charter boat with full shade, bench seating, a restroom, and a CPR-certified mate on every trip.
If you have searched destin sunset dolphin cruise or sunset cruise destin fl and tried to pick between a sterile party boat and a calm dolphin watch, this tour is the middle ground families and couples actually want: easygoing, scenic, and built around real dolphin sightings instead of a sales pitch.

What makes the Destin sunset dolphin cruise different
We run the cruise on the Crab Island Runner, our purpose-built USCG-certified charter vessel. That means a walk-around deck with full shade, a real restroom, bench seating with storage for your beach bag, and bottled water on the house. Our Coast Guard licensed captain narrates as you go, pointing out dolphin pods, manta rays, sea turtles, and the migrating shorebirds along the Choctawhatchee Bay.
Unlike speed-boat sunset rides, this is a slow, scenic loop designed for photos and conversation. Drinks are easy: a small soft-sided cooler is welcome, no glass, no outside alcohol, and select adult beverages are available for purchase on board.
What is included on the sunset dolphin tour
- Roughly 90 minutes on Destin’s Emerald Coast at the magic hour
- Coast Guard licensed captain narrating dolphin and wildlife sightings
- CPR-certified mate and USCG-approved life jackets on board
- Full overhead shade and a walk-around deck with bench seating
- Restroom access — no rushing the trip to shore
- Complimentary iced bottled water
- Small soft-sided coolers welcome (no glass, no outside alcohol)
- Adult beverages available for purchase on board
Where to look for dolphins at sunset
Dolphins are most active in the hours right before sunset, which is one of the reasons we run this trip when we do. The Island Runner cruises the East Pass, the open water near Crab Island, and into the calmer pockets of the Choctawhatchee Bay where bottlenose pods feed on the changing tide. Expect to see mothers with calves, juveniles surfing the boat’s wake, and the occasional spotted ray or sea turtle.
Because we are locally owned and our captains are on the water every day, they know where the pods have been holding all week — not just the spot the boat ran yesterday.
Who is the sunset dolphin tour is for
Families with little kids who would prefer not to drive a jet ski. Couples who want a slow date night without committing to a full dinner cruise. Multi-generational groups where grandparents want shade and a restroom and the cousins want to spot wildlife. Bachelorette parties who want the photos without the high-energy club-boat vibe — we even offer bachelorette package upgrades with floats, signs, and themed accessories.
If your group has more than 12 and you want the boat to yourselves, we also run private sunset charters on the Island Runner. Ask at booking for availability.
