Destin in May

As summer rolls in and things start to heat up, put Destin on your list of places to visit this summer. School is out, the sun is bright , and the beach is calling your name. This May, before it gets scorching hot, take a trip over to Destin and let us guide you through all the hot spots in and around the Destin area this May.

Boat Rental

Let’s start off with something fun, boats! We have the best Destin pontoon boat rentals in the area, as well as pontoon boat charters. Our boats are a fun way to explore parts of Destin while cruising in the ocean. On our boat rentals, we recommend you bring the following items: waterproof cameras, sunscreen, towels, sunglasses, bluetooth speakers, and any water toy you’d like.

Renting a boat means you can bring your own food and have a picnic on a boat as well as swimming, snorkeling and enjoy some water sports. Do not forget to have either your phone out (using a waterproof case or bag) or a waterproof camera to take pictures of the amazing scenery around you. The rentals at Xtreme H2O are 24’ which means the seating capacity is 12. This way you can go with family and friends and have a fun time. Lastly, make sure to bring an ice chest with your drinks and food of choice while enjoying the sunshine.

Crab Island

The next activity you should do with family or friends is go to Crab Island. Our Crab Island pontoon rentals in Destin, Florida are your ticket to see this amazing place. Crab Island is a sandbar which allows pontoon boats and crab island charters to get close enough for anyone to either enjoy the sandbar or sit back and relax on the boat. Back in the day, it used to be known as Bird Island. This is a great place to visit as you are enjoying the weather with a view of Crab Island. At Crab Island, you are allowed to bring your own snacks and drinks aboard. There are also vendors where you can purchase additional items. You can also get to Crab Island by renting a Island Runner Crab Island Cruise. Make sure to check out Crab Island this May.

Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park

This next attraction is the Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park. This is a fun place to bring family and friends of any age. Things you should note is that Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park will be open the full month of May, whereas the first two weekends of May the waterpark will be open. After May 12th, the water park will fully be open for the rest of the month. The water park has about 8 different slides, with a surf simulator, and as well has a lazy river and a wave pool. This water park also has an area designated for kids and anyone who does not hit the height range for the bigger slides. The Adventure park contains two attractions: a mini golf course and a skycoaster. The skycoaster does have a minimum height requirement of 42 inches tall, but the mini golf is great for all ages. After all that fun, definitely stop by the areas where they are selling food to fuel your body again after having a blast at either the water park or adventure park.

Destin Commons

While down here, if you need a break from the beach, go check out the Destin Commons. The Destin Commons is a shopping center that has many shops to explore. They also have many food options. This place is great to visit, especially if you are staying in Destin for a long trip. The shopping goes from women and men’s apparel to health and beauty to children’s apparel and toys. The dining experience has a variety of options great for everyone to find something of their liking. They have you covered if you want to have a sit down dining experience where you can see all the different food cuisines offered. If you go mostly to shop, but still want to eat something, then you are in luck because besides sit down restaurants, the Destin Commons also offers quick bite places. If you are someone who has a sweet tooth, then check out the sweet treats. If it’s a rainy day in Destin and you do not want to stay at your hotel, why not go to the AMC movie theater and see what kind of movies are showing that day? You can also go to Uncle Bucks and do some bowling. Something special that the Destin Commons has to offer is if you decide to park by a parking meter, not only are you close to your favorite store, but you are also participating in coins for a cause. Coins for a cause is basically anytime you pay to be allowed to park in the particular parking spot, some of your money will go to a charity in need. Finally if you take a visit to the Destin Commons, be sure to check out the murals all around the shopping center. Feel free to take a picture either for you to keep or to show it off on social media for all your friends and family to see.

Harborwalk Adventures

Up next is a place which is fun for the whole family! We are talking about Harborwalk Adventures. Harborwalk Adventures is very family friendly and has many options to choose from. From going zip lining from the longest and tallest zipline attraction, to rock climbing to free fall adventures. Harborwalk Adventures offers many activities for whatever mood you are feeling. All the activities are also very reasonably priced so it is worth the money if you want to try out something different. They also offer combo and package deals so be sure to check that out as well. There is a fun activity the whole family can do, which is a Buccaneer Pirate Cruise. The Buccaneer Pirate Cruise will truly make you and your family feel like pirates searching for treasure. Be sure to check it out and any other activities HarborWalk Adventures has to offer. If you have a birthday in May, then we have some news for you: Harborwalk Adventures has birthday parties! All you have to do is message or give them a call.

Tequila and Taco Festival at Baytowne Wharf

This one goes out to anyone 21 and older. If you are a fan of tequila, then this is perfect for you. The Village of Baytowne Wharf is hosting their 11th annual Tequila and Taco Festival from May 10th-12th. At the festival, you will have the chance to try all kinds of tacos, margaritas, and much more! Besides all the food you will be able to try, the festival also hosts an Ay Chihuahua Beauty Pageant. All of the fees will be donated to Dog-Harmony, which is a rescue dog shelter. What a fun way to spend your time in Destin.
